The department of Obstetrics and gynecology at MES Medical College has evolved in to a ‘Centre of excellence in Gynecological surgeries’ catering the Malabar region since its inception. This department has become the focus of attention of the entire medical fraternity having performed over  ten thousand surgeries till date.

We have a team comprising of highly qualified and skilled gynecologist who work to ensure excellent care for our patients. Our patients also get the benefit multidisciplinary team comprising anesthesiologist, physicians, general surgeons and cardiologists when it comes to the management of high risk cases

The OBG team at MES Medical College runs a very hectic out-patient department on a daily basis, which benefits patients from far and near. We function primarily as a referral center for the practicing obstetricians of the Malabar region. This gives them an opportunity to ensure that their high risk patients get the possible care when most needed.

The other highlight of the department is the well staffed antenatal and gynecology wards. The department takes pride in possessing a ‘state of the art’ operation theater with the most modern equipments with qualified theater technicians and support staff. We ensure that the care to these patients is of highest quality which has in turn helped us to keep the rates of nosocomial infection to the most accepted levels. The department library holds an exentensive collection of latest edition of text books and journals. This creates and excellent environment for the faculties as well as the house surgeons/student to update their knowledge. We also have huge collection of clinico-pathologic specimens of both the common and rare gynecological problems, which form a real treat for the learner. 

Specialized clinics are other hallmark. This includes adolescent gynecology clinic, infertility clinic, antenatal clinic, family welfare clinic, cancer screening clinic, and gyneconcology clinic. This ensures that the specific needs of these group of patients are attended to.

Our areas of expertise include minimally invasive surgeries, gynec-onco surgeries for management of cervical, ovarian and uterine malignancies, uro-gynecological pregnancies as well as management of high risk pregnancies. Other limelights are hysteroscopic procedures and laparoscopic uterine suspension procedures.
